Pacific Coast League names players of the week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Sacramento River Cats outfielder Hiram Bocachica has been named Player of the Week in the PCL after slugging four home runs with 12 RBI while posting a .357 batting average on the week. Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Sky Sox starter Sun-Woo Kim garnered PCL Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a complete-game, three-hit shutout and collecting two wins during the week of July 3-9.
Bocachica collected a hit in six of his seven appearances including three mulit-hit performances during his award-winning week that was headlined by a three-for-four showing against the Salt Lake Bees on July 7th that included two doubles and a home run. The Ponce, Pureto Rico native also posted a .893 slugging percentage on the week and boosted his season batting average to .330. At 30 years of age, Hiram is in his 13th professional season and has logged time in the Major Leagues in each of his last six seasons.
Starter Sun-Woo Kim enjoyed his best week of the season allowing just two runs in 15 innings of work and picking up a pair of wins for the Sky Sox. Kim's second appearance of the week was his most impressive, in which he threw a complete-game shutout versus the Fresno Grizzlies on July 8th, giving up just three hits. The native of Inchon, South Korea has won four of his last five decisions and has now won three in a row, improving his season record to 5-and-3 with a 3.73 ERA.
