Former Lynx and Montreal Expos Star Rondell White To Visit With Rochester

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Lynx announced today that during their games against the Rochester Red Wings over the next two days, the Red Wings will have a former Lynx superstar on their roster. Former Major League All-Star Rondell White will visit Lynx Stadium the next two nights playing for Rochester. The 34-year-old White is on a rehabilitation assignment with the Red Wings after being placed on the disabled list by Minnesota with a strained left shoulder.

White, the Montreal Expos 1st round draft pick (24th overall) in the 1990 draft, was one of the top prospects in baseball when he played for the Lynx in 1993 and 1994. In 79 games with the Lynx the outfielder batted .322 with 14 homers, 50 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

A unique mix of speed and power, White went on to play eight seasons with the Montreal Expos before making stops in Chicago (NL), New York (AL), San Diego, Kansas City and Detroit. Prior to this season he signed a contract with Minnesota, and has batted .182 with 15 RBI in 54 games with the Twins.

In 1391 career games in the Major Leagues (parts of 14 seasons), White has compiled a .285 batting average with 187 homers, 725 RBI and 94 stolen bases. In 2003 White was named to the National League All-Star team to represent the San Diego Padres.

Fans can see the former Ottawa star and his Red Wings take on the hometown Lynx tonight and tomorrow at Lynx Stadium. Tonight the Lynx host Rochester for a doubleheader starting at 7:05 pm, before the quick two-day series wraps up with a 7:05 pm game on Friday.
