Cuddyer Placed on 15-Day DL

MINNEAPOLIS -- What first seemed like just another jammed thumb has now sidelined Michael Cuddyer for at least two weeks.
The Twins placed Cuddyer on the 15-day disabled list Friday after an MRI exam revealed sprained ligaments in his right thumb. To replace Cuddyer on the 25-man roster, the Twins selected the contract of outfielder Darnell McDonald from Triple-A Rochester.
Cuddyer's injury is the latest to hit the club, which has suffered its fair share this season -- especially to its big hitters in the lineup.
"Any time you lose your big guys in the middle, it hurts you," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We had [Joe] Mauer gone for five weeks, Cuddy missed a week with the back thing earlier and now this. Those are the guys we're not able to replace right now -- power guys in the middle of the lineup -- so you just have to do the best you can without them."
