Twins manager Ron Gardenhire received a phone call in his Metrodome office Thursday morning.
It was Phil Nevin of the Chicago Cubs, and he was hoping to come to Minnesota in a trade.
A few hours later, the Twins sealed the deal, acquiring Nevin for a player to be named.
With Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee coming off the disabled list this week, Nevin knew his playing time would be reduced, so he went looking for the best opportunity he could find.
