Jeff Suppan is expected to be the Brewers' Opening Day pitcher on April 7 in San Francisco, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Manager Ken Macha more or less announced the starting rotation by saying that Braden Looper will pitch on Thursday for an exhibition game against Texas. Looper has been pitching in minor-league games while recovering from an oblique strain suffered earlier in camp.
With that schedule, Suppan pitches again on Saturday, which lines him up for opening day in San Francisco. Macha said he wasn't ready to officially announce his rotation, preferring to wait to make sure Looper has no setbacks.
"But you can look at the schedule and make a good guess," Macha told the newspaper.
The way the rotation is lined up, Suppan, Yovani Gallardo and Manny Parra will start the three games in San Francisco.
