Brewers invite two to camp
The Milwaukee Brewers increased the number of non-roster players invited to spring training to six Thursday by extending invitations to outfielder Laynce Nix and reliever Steve Bray.
Nix, 27, played most of the 2007 season at Class AAA Nashville and Bray, 27, spent the entire year with that club. In 95 games, Nix batted .268 with 24 home runs and 74 runs batted in. He was called up by the Brewers in September and went 0 for 12 off the bench.
Bray, a right-hander, appeared in 42 games for Nashville, compiling a 5-2 record and 1.62 earned run average. In 77 2/3 innings, he allowed 59 hits and 26 walks and struck out 73 hitters.
The other non-roster invitees to camp are right-handers Mark DiFelice and Scott Cassidy, left-hander Chris Narveson and infielder Ozzie Chavez.
