Carlos Lee may be leaving the Brewers after this season.

MILWAUKEE -- At this point, only Carlos Lee has control of where he will play next season. That's not stopping anyone from trying to figure out what he's thinking.
Lee, a free agent after this season, was asked by a Chicago reporter after Sunday's game whether he could picture himself returning to the Windy City. Lee played his first six seasons with the White Sox, and he's a career .308 hitter at Wrigley Field with a home run every 10.7 at-bats.
"I don't know," Lee said. "It seems like every time I come here, I have pretty good success. But that's too far away. It's still a long way, and we're trying to get to October here. I'm happy where I am right now."
The Brewers picked up Lee's $8.5 million option for 2006, and given his hot start this year -- he set a franchise record with 10 home runs in April -- and his career-long consistency, only an injury seems capable of getting in the way of a substantial multi-year deal.
The Brewers have a number of options: talk with Lee either during or after the season about re-signing, trade him at the July 31 deadline, or try to make a run with Lee in the middle of the lineup and take a compensatory draft pick should he elect to sign elsewhere next season.
General manager Doug Melvin had a brief encounter with Lee's agent, Adam Katz, at the Winter Meetings, but indicated that the team is not in a hurry to make any long-term decisions. Other teams are in a similar feeling-out period, according to Melvin.
"I think I've talked to three other general managers since the start of the season," Melvin said.
theres no doubt about it that lee is an amazing player and any team in the mlb would want him on there team...a bunch of people will be after him this off season and if he gets a good enough offer i think he would take it...but thats JMO...
i would too man...prince fielder is going to be a stud...i live in nashville so i watched him play several times for the nashville sounds, Brewers Triple A team....the brewers have a really young team...bill hall and richie weeks are also going to be very good...

The Brewers need to keep Lee for atleast another year or two until they find more replacements for him. Jenkins just hasn't been doing as good lately so we can't count him right now.
