ANAHEIM -- The Winter Meetings will convene in Orlando this year with a number of the big names already off the free-agent market.
Gone are Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, Frank Thomas and Carlos Lee, while the Angels signed Gary Matthews Jr. Sure to grab headlines next week is left-hander Barry Zito and his ascending price in a market that has already produced eye-popping figures. But bigger news could be generated on the trade front with names such as Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Tejada and Manny Ramirez all included in talks.
General manager Bill Stoneman has landed a center fielder and a right-handed reliever, but he still has the big bat box unmarked on his dance card.
