As a team, the Angels focus on the field, but the organization as a whole takes a broader approach and looks beyond the lines.
That's where the Angels Baseball Foundation comes in, as it strives to live up to the belief that a baseball team is more than just an attraction -- it is a member of the community.
With initiatives that focus on education, health and youth activities, the Angels Baseball Foundation looks to make a difference, and 2006 was no exception.
"We are committed year-round to be active in the community and to help civic organizations as much as we can," said Angels community relations manager Matt Bennett. "Our focus is kids' programs and we continue to make that our main focus."
The Foundation worked with a number of health care and health awareness groups this past year to provide support. Those included the Children's Hospital and Health Systems Foundation, the Orange County Burn Association, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the American Red Cross.
On the educational front, the organization teamed with the Cal State University Board of Regents, the Anaheim and Orange School Districts, and the Children & Families Commission of Orange County. Included in their aims was helping children improve reading, writing and language skills, as well as life lessons such as maintaining character, integrity and self esteem.

Over 2,000 fans came out to participate in the charity Run/Walk at Angel Stadium in May. (Angels)
