KANSAS CITY -- Chone Figgins was not in the Angels lineup on Tuesday against Royals left-hander Jorge De La Rosa.
The switch-hitting Figgins, who hit for the cycle on Saturday at Texas, is hitting .228 swinging right-handed, .274 left-handed and .261 overall.
"Last year he struggled from the right side, and he's continuing those struggles again this year," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He works hard at it, and hopefully he'll balance it back it out. Left-handed, he's been more productive. Right-handed, he isn't squaring up the ball as well."
Figgins hit .243 right-handed and .314 left-handed in 2005.
"When we first started, he was more productive from the right side," Scioscia said. "From the right side, everything was strong for a couple of years. The year he had in '04, right-handed he was terrific.
