Adam Kennedy swung from the heels Tuesday, sending the entire moment deep into 2002.
Kennedy (Cal State Northridge) hammered an 0-1 pitch into the right-field seats to give the Angels a 5-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in 10 innings and helped shave another game off the Oakland Athletics' division lead.
Manager Mike Scioscia felt a hint of fall in the air - the fall of 2002, to be exact - when Kennedy hit three home runs in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the Minnesota Twins. That victory sent the Angels to the World Series.
"I think it was that feeling just because Adam hit the home run," Scioscia said. "There was a little resemblance. The stadium was charged, maybe not quite to that fever pitch of '02, but it certainly rivaled it."
