BAL Rodrigo Lopez, RHP (9-14, 6.17) Orioles (61-75)
@ LAA Jered Weaver, RHP (9-2, 2.33) Angels (72-65)
Scouting Report:
The numbers from Lopez's last start were rough -- seven earned runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 9-4 loss to Texas -- but the reality is, he didn't pitch badly. He kept the Orioles in the game until the seventh, when he loaded the bases and watch a struggling bullpen clear them. His 14 losses leads the American League.
Weaver finally had his welcome to the Majors moment when he was rocked for three runs on four straight hits to open the first inning in his last start. Weaver allowed consecutive homers to the first two batters and gave up five runs in all on nine hits and two walks. Weaver has lost two straight starts after opening his career 9-0.

BAL Kris Benson, RHP (10-10, 4.78)
@ LAA John Lackey, RHP (11-9, 3.63)
Scouting Report:
Having struggled all month, Benson ended August with a strong performance, allowing two runs and five hits in seven innings at Texas, though he was robbed of a win by the bullpen. It was his second quality start in his past three appearances.
Lackey did something he hadn't done all season: beat the Mariners. In two previous starts against Seattle, Lackey had allowed 22 earned runs, and while he was not dominating in his last outing, he got the job done. Lackey allowed three runs on nine hits and two hit batters over 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win of August.

BAL Daniel Cabrera, RHP (7-9, 4.74)
@ LAA Ervin Santana, RHP (13-7, 4.50)
Scouting Report:
Cabrera allowed four runs in the first two innings, and then righted himself in his last outing. He gave up one run on three innings in his final three innings. Even with the loss, Cabrera has won three of his last five starts, which included a 16-inning scoreless streak and his second career shutout and complete game.
Santana's stuff wasn't bad in in his last outing, but he really got burned when he missed his locations. That performance came on Sept. 1, when he allowed five runs on seven his in four innings in a 9-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers. His stuff was very good at times -- he struck out seven -- but his pitches were hammered when he tried to throw pitches on the inside corner and didn't get them far enough inside.
