Default Baltimore @ Angels

vs.

Monday, September 4 7:05 PM PT
BAL Rodrigo Lopez, RHP (9-14, 6.17) Orioles (61-75)
@ LAA Jered Weaver, RHP (9-2, 2.33) Angels (72-65)

Scouting Report:
The numbers from Lopez's last start were rough -- seven earned runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 9-4 loss to Texas -- but the reality is, he didn't pitch badly. He kept the Orioles in the game until the seventh, when he loaded the bases and watch a struggling bullpen clear them. His 14 losses leads the American League.

Weaver finally had his welcome to the Majors moment when he was rocked for three runs on four straight hits to open the first inning in his last start. Weaver allowed consecutive homers to the first two batters and gave up five runs in all on nine hits and two walks. Weaver has lost two straight starts after opening his career 9-0.

Tuesday, September 5 7:05 PM PT
BAL Kris Benson, RHP (10-10, 4.78)

@ LAA John Lackey, RHP (11-9, 3.63)

Scouting Report:
Having struggled all month, Benson ended August with a strong performance, allowing two runs and five hits in seven innings at Texas, though he was robbed of a win by the bullpen. It was his second quality start in his past three appearances.

Lackey did something he hadn't done all season: beat the Mariners. In two previous starts against Seattle, Lackey had allowed 22 earned runs, and while he was not dominating in his last outing, he got the job done. Lackey allowed three runs on nine hits and two hit batters over 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win of August.

Wednesday, September 6 | 12:35 PM PT
BAL Daniel Cabrera, RHP (7-9, 4.74)
@ LAA Ervin Santana, RHP (13-7, 4.50)

Scouting Report:
Cabrera allowed four runs in the first two innings, and then righted himself in his last outing. He gave up one run on three innings in his final three innings. Even with the loss, Cabrera has won three of his last five starts, which included a 16-inning scoreless streak and his second career shutout and complete game.

Santana's stuff wasn't bad in in his last outing, but he really got burned when he missed his locations. That performance came on Sept. 1, when he allowed five runs on seven his in four innings in a 9-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers. His stuff was very good at times -- he struck out seven -- but his pitches were hammered when he tried to throw pitches on the inside corner and didn't get them far enough inside.

Well he's kind of had it in me ever since i accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly" and replace "dog" with "son".

Jered Weaver rebounded from two consecutive losses to pick up his 10th victory, tossing seven scoreless innings. Adam Kennedy (2-for-3) drove in Juan Rivera (2-for-2) for the game's only run. Scot Shields tossed a perfect eighth, and closer Francisco Rodriguez worked the ninth for his 39th save.

Default Angels walk off with win in extras

ANAHEIM -- Adam Kennedy hit a walk-off three-run home run on Tuesday in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Angels a 5-2 victory over the Orioles at Angel Stadium.

Kennedy's heroics -- the first walk-off home run this year for the Angels -- followed Garret Anderson's leadoff single and Reggie Willits' bunt single.

Jose Molina gave the Angels a temporary 2-1 lead with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. The catcher drove home Howie Kendrick with a drive into medium right field. Kendrick singled to start the inning against Orioles right-hander Kris Benson and moved to third on Kennedy's single one batter later.

The Orioles tied the game at 2 in the eighth, when Scot Shields lost a lead for the second time in his last three outings. The Angels setup man gave up a leadoff double, an infield single and let a run in on Ramon Hernandez's sacrifice fly to deep center.

The Angels went ahead, 1-0, in the third inning on a Maicer Izturis single that just made it under the glove of first baseman Kevin Millar. The hit plated Curtis Pride, who started in place of the injured Juan Rivera.

Aside from cracking in the seventh when he gave up the tying run on a sharp single by Nick Markakis, John Lackey worked around trouble all night. He allowed a runner to reach second in every inning but one, yet seemingly induced an inning-ending ground ball every time he had to.

The Orioles came close to scoring in the top of the 10th, but Chone Figgins launched a throw from left that easily beat David Newhan to the plate.

Default Figgins leads Angels' sweep of O's

ANAHEIM -- A tweak atop Wednesday's lineup worked in more ways than one.

Maicer Izturis batted in the leadoff spot for just the seventh time this season and played a pair of threes -- that being hits and runs scored -- and knocked in a run for emphasis.

Lest he be forgotten, the man he supplanted drilled the go-ahead run as Chone Figgins, who was demoted to ninth, doubled home a run in the sixth.

With Ervin Santana shoveling seven workmanlike innings on a hot afternoon that produced a steady easterly breeze out to right, the Angels responded with an 8-4 victory over the Orioles to sweep the series.
