OK, just playing hypothetical here, but how about a 2007 Royals outfield of David DeJesus in left, Joey Gathright in center and Reggie Sanders in right?
Might work, but then again, Emil Brown is hitting .293 and leads the team with 76 RBIs, so maybe it should be DeJesus-Gathright-Brown.
Seems fine, but what about Mark Teahen? He might be the Royals’ player of the year and if Alex Gordon, as most expect, wins a spot out of spring training, Teahen needs to be in the lineup every day. So maybe the outfield is Teahen-DeJesus-Brown.
Jeez. And we haven’t even mentioned Shane Costa, Esteban German or Billy Butler yet. This outfield is growing awfully crowded.
“You can never have too many good players,” general manager Dayton Moore said. “Let me say this: Mark Teahen is the third baseman of this team. Alex Gordon, is he getting closer to forcing our hand? Absolutely. He’s the minor-league player of the year, and you don’t do that without great ability.
