Sup? ;-)

Hey everyone, at first... please excuse my grammer, I'm from Germany.
I'm Sebastian, 21 years old and playing baseball for 3 years.
My Positions are LF and 3B.
I startet Catcher training this off season and have some questions about protection like thumb guard and wrist guard.
Can anyone please tell me in which topic i should post that?

Greetings, Sylabil Spill

Thanks, so my first questiion is: Did the wrist guard always protect the catcher's wrist from hitting by a ball or also protect in homeplate-collisions?

It always helps to train more. But even training all the time is not going to prevent the ball from hitting your wrist. It's pretty much impossible to prevent that. The only way you can prevent your wrist from recieving the impact is by putting on a wrist guard. I use one, and I don't even play catcher. When I field a groundball, there's always a bad hop here and there, so the guard helps a lot.

Here's what it looks like:

It's called an EvoShield. It works very well and protects your wrist. Buster Posey wears one, and so does almost every catcher in the MLB.

And also: Welcome!

Yes, but it doesn't prevent my wrist in homeplate collision or did it? That was my main question...

Oh, I must've missed that.. well, to answer: no. There is no possible way to protect your wrist from impact. You can, however, protect it from injury. Try not to fall on your wrist when falling and/or when the runner is running at you, make sure you stick out your SHOULDERS and ELBOWS.. NOT your hands. That is the biggest way to hurt your wrist.
