Fresh Call-Up
Hey guys I'm Carlos I'm 15 and I'm new to Baseballforums.com . I've been fairly active on NHL sites for a while but haven't really found a good baseball forum until now.
As an amateur sports journalist I've covered the Ottawa District 2 Junior Championships and have written articles for local papers. I am also connected to a high-profile sports journalist at our town's biggest paper, I bounce ideas off of him regularly. My eventual goal is to be a Major League broadcaster (if my dream of playing in the majors doesn't pan out, as it most likely wont)...I've got some recordings of myself doing games if any of you are interested.
As a player, I played for the AA East Nepean Eagles last summer, hitting .374 with 12 RBI in 38 games. I'm most comfortable on the mound, where I started in the Ontario Provincial Final down in Toronto. I guess I was my team's ace (I started our biggest round robin game, the semi, and the final), and we played really well but just fell short against a powerhouse team from the other side of town, Orleans. I had a 1.03 ERA all year, a WHIP of 0.91, and K-BB ratio of 5.1:1. I had a pretty solid season, and had a Fall Ball audition with the AAAA Ottawa Canadians U16 club (for which I'll still be eligible next year). Unfortunately, I didn't make the team, and their coaches basically told me to come back next year because I'm just too small right now. They've decided to take their club in one direction this season and I guess a small, right-handed pitcher that doesn't throw overly hard wasn't in their plans. I'm 5'6, 130 pounds. This summer, I plan to play at the provincials once again with the AA Senior squad, and hopefully excel.
