Well the poll was closed long ago so we can't vote and I think he has spent a lot of time in Atlanta so I would actually have to look at his stats.

I know this is an old thread, but I don't see why the opinions have to stop because the voting poll is closed. I had to say I disagree with you guys here and say that Chipper is not a HOF candidate. I know that will rub some the wrong way, but if you're going to take part in healthy baseball discussions and debate about players be prepared to have someone disagree with your opinions sometimes. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz yes...if Andruw Jones continued like his first few years, yeah (not now)...but Chipper? No.

I think he is a 1st ballot HOFer. Even with his injuries of late he has consistent numbers to get him in.

I think Chipper has a great chance of making it, after looking up his records, he can. Amazing stats the guys created. I agree with everyone who says he's in.
I know this is an old thread, just wanted to get my 2cents in

Do I think Chipper Jones should be a Hall of Famer? Absolutely. You might call me biased because I'm a Braves fan but this is coming with zero bias.

I have had this argument before and the thing I notice is that people think never having won a Golden Glove will hurt Chipper. You're absolutely right he's never won one, and maybe that hurts him. Does it hurt him enough to keep him out of the Hall? No way. In fact one can argue that Chipper should have won the Golden Glove in 2007 over David Wright. That's an argument for another time though. Personally a lack of Golden Gloves doesn't bother me but I am not voting so I don't know how the voters feel about this.

Chipper has had a lot of injuries throughout his career but even through those injuries he maintained very good numbers. I have no idea how anyone can call Jones inconsistent really.

Chipper is top 2/3 switch hitters of all time. I don't think anyone will argue Mickey Mantle is the greatest. 2 is up for grabs you can make an argument for Chipper or one for Pete Rose. Even if you rank him as 3rd Mantle and Rose are not bad guys to be behind when it comes to hitting.

I'm not sure Chipper will be a first ballot, not saying he doesn't deserve it, but he SHOULD be in the Hall of Fame one day.

Absolutely. I rank him #5 all time for third basemen behind Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Eddie Mathews and Wade Boggs.
