Without question he deserves it. When you think of spectacular plays in CF, KG Jr. is a player that comes to mind, and when you think of sweet swings, he is one of the first that comes to mind. Having 600+ HR's doesn't hurt either.
He was arguably the second-best player of the 1990s. There is a weak argument for him being the best but, as much as it pains me to say it, that title likely belongs to Bonds.
I say yes - he was a tremendous defender and baserunner before injuries, and has one of the sweetest swings in the history of the game. His hitting resume speaks for itself.
He doesn't come close to Willie Mays but then no one can hold a candle to Mays overall. Griffey will be there with bells on. He won't be there for his BA but in spite of it.
