I think this guy should be in Hall of Fame.He spend with 5 differant teams 22 years in majors.He had the best throwing arm to gun down base stealers.He even threw out Joe Morgan stealing second in 83 world series. I think he should get the call to the hall in 2008.

While I did like and respect Dempsey, there are more deserving candidates at catcher alone that deserve to be in. Lance Parrish, Thurman Munson, Bill Freehan, just to name a few. Dempsey was a very good player, but let's concentrate on the greats.

Bill Mazeroski had to wait 29 years to get into the Hall of Fame on his defensive credentials - his line of .260/.299/.367 is almost identical to Dempsey's. However, Mazeroski may be the greatest defensive second baseman in history, whereas Dempsey is not. Also consider the fact that while both's main claims to famer were their defense, Maz has that infamous 1960 World Series-winning bomb against the New York Yankees, to boot.
