Yes, I think he is a Hall of Famer. There is no evidence that he did take steroids and that shouldn't keep him out. His numbers are what count and hitting 600 home runs is impressive which is the fifth most in baseball history. He joins Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, and Willie Mays. From 1995 to 2004, Sammy Sosa hit 479 homers, the most at that time for any 10-year period in history. Also, he holds the NL record with six consecutive seasons of at least 40 home runs. Only Babe Ruth, with seven, has a longer streak than Sosa.
In baseball history, there have been eight 60-home run seasons and Sosa has three of them. He has hit more homers at Wrigley Field than Babe Ruth hit at Yankee Stadium. In 2001, he has 160 RBIs, 94 more RBIs than anyone on his team, destroying the record for largest disparity in RBIs between a team leader and the runner-up, which shows you he is an impressive player. He's been an All-Star seven times and ranked in the top 10 in MVP voting in seven different seasons. Also, including 1998 when he won the award.
He can finish career ranked in the top 20 in RBIs. Even though he did get caught with a corked bat he is still a good player. Even if he doesn't make it in the first-ballot, that shouldn't stop him from getting in the Hall of Fame, to be welcomed in Cooperstown. Sosa shouldn't be seen the same way as McGwire. Sosa made a statement in front of the House Committee on Government Reform in which he declared he had never used illegal performance-enhancing substances while McGwire did not. Sosa has never failed a drug test. If I had a vote, I would vote Sosa in for what he has done in supporting Major League Baseball.
