they won't get anywhere in the MLB. Way to small, not height, but they need more meat on them

Who says that players have to be a certain size for success in MLB? Pedro Martinez, Ichiro and Dustin Pedroia are just a few of the "undersized" players to have success. MLB is not the NFL or NBA; it's about skills not being a genetic freak. Btw, these players are going to fill out over time.

If they wanted to be second basemens or pitchers that'd be fine.. but they don't, they want to be SS's. The shortstop position has turned into a position for BIG men, not little guys to scoot everywhere like it used to. A BIG man needs to stop a hard hit ground ball hit by a BIG batter.

There are still smaller SS in the league, including Jeter.

Kinda.. Jeter is only 1 inch shorter and 10lbs smaller then Cal Ripken.. shortstop is played by big MLB pro's..

What is your obsession with height and weight?
1)Some of the best Shortstops in recent history were six feet tall or under.
Barry Larkin, Ozzie Smith, Nomar Garciaparra and Orlando Cabrera. Jimmy Rollins is listed at 5'8.

2)Just because a player is drafted as a shortstop doesn't mean that is were they will stay. B.J. Upton anyone? Many Major Leaguers played Shortstop at some point in their career, because it is reserved for the best overall player on the team.

3)These players are young and probably haven't stopped growing, but even if they don't grow much more they were drafted for their prospective skills not their current physical state. A scout doesn't only look at what a player can do now, but projects (guesses) what that player will do in five years.

In conclusion, try looking back at some of your favorite players and trace how they matured physically.
