Smile How does one play Fantasy Baseball?

I know it has statistics's, but how does it work? Do you count up stuff? How do you keep score during a baseball game?
Besides how many runs, or wins, or losses. Someone, please help me out here.

I play fantasy baseball in a head to head format. Where statistics add up each week and who ever has the most or least in one category, gets a win in that category. I'll explain.

The statistics that are involved in the fantasy baseball I've played include:

1.For Offense- rbi's, runs, batting average, strikeouts, gidp, sb's, and home runs.
2.For Pitching- wins, saves, era, whip, and strikeouts.

When the season begins, you draft players to your team. The player's statistics for the week get added into a total for the week. Then your stats are compared to another team (the person who is facing you; head to head). The categories you are better in (have more rbi's than the other team, have the least amount of gidp's, lowest era) receive a win, and, naturally, the ones you are worse in you get a loss. In the end of that week your wins and loses would add up to 11, because there are 11 categories, thus if you win every category you would be 11-0 on the week.

As the season progresses, your wins and loses are added up, giving you a winning percentage on the year. Those with the top percentages go to the playoffs, which consist of the final 3 weeks or so of the actual baseball season.

I hope I didn't confuse you. I can't really tell if this post was very clear. Since I have knowledge of fantasy baseball I can't tell if I gave enough info about the process.

Smile what is gidp?

And don't people keep track of the negative's in that game that they are watching, like strikout for your team -1, or something like that, do people do this in fantasy baseball?

If so, how would one keep track of the negative's and postive's, and also which one's?

I'm not sure about that, that's not how my fantasy league did it, but it could be done like that in other ones.

In my league, strikeouts were a stat that was added up. So if your team got the most k's on offense you lost that category.

Smile So, for Fantasy Baseball

Do you need only offense and pitching?

What about Defense?

Is that included?

I've never heard of a fantasy league using defense. But there certainly could be one. All I know for sure is that offense and pitching are definitely used.
