Giants Demolish Tigers, with courtesy of Pablo Sandoval
Probably should've have posted this yesterday.. but YOLO.
Quote:
Tonight, the San Fransisco Giants beat the Tigers by a final score of 8-3. Pablo Sandoval became only the 4th player (Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, Albert Pujols) in MLB history to hit three home-runs in a World Series game. It's a similar role Albert Pujols took on last year, with the St. Louis Cardinals, in Game 3 against the Texas Rangers. But wait, there's more.
With the Detroit Tigers sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALCS, it looked as if it was going to be an easy cruise this World Series. But the Giants had other plans. They took on the St. Louis Cardinals in a 7-Game series battle, making every at-bat count. Thanks to a wonderful pitching performance by Ryan Vogelsong and Barry Zito, the Giants were able to make history by coming back and beating the Cardinals in Game 7, sending them to the 2012 World Series against the Tigers. After Zito's Cy Young quality start his last performance, he was scheduled to start tonight's, where he would face the deadly line up that included Triple Crown winner, Miguel Cabrera, and ace Justin Verlander, who has matched his 2011 Cy Young year. It was destined to be a battle.
By the bottom of the first inning, Pablo Sandoval and the Giants already pounced into action. With a 420 foot blast to the deepest part of the ball park, Sandoval put his team up on the board first.
Barry Zito, yet again, was on fire. Just like his last post season start, the amount of runners allowed on were slim, and he was locating like no other. Although he only raked up a couple strike outs, his performance led him a shut-out for the 7-innings he pitched.
The question after the final score was simple, yet meaningful. Was the long rest for the Tigers a mistake? They swept the New York Yankees in a fast four games, and left the Giants to play all seven games against the Cardinals. Where the Giants had only one day off, the Tigers had five. Did they cool off from their hot streak? It sure seems like it.

Fielder shouldn't have been waved round third base to go for a run. I reckon that out knocked the Tigers' confidence for the rest of the game.

There are still 5 games to go! They keep saying that 8 out of the last 9 World Series winners won the first game, but it's all psychological. The Tigers will start to play better at home!

Yes, the Giants are "in the driver's seat" right now, but they need to keep playing hard... I'm old enough to remember the Atlanta Braves in 1996 being up 2-0 in games and losing the next 4, so don't feel it's over yet...

I predicted the exact opposite.
I thought the Tigers would take Game 1 and 2.

I don't want to say it's over, but if the Tigers don't win every single game at home it's over.

I'm waiting for the Tigers to lose on Saturday. If they lose on Saturday, I'm going to officially say the Giants will win the 2012 World Series. But we all know what has happened and can easily happen again this post season.

i think the giants will win the series. i was shocked when they came back to beat the reds who i originally expected to win the series. they have been impressing me lately and i expect them to take home the title.
