Erie's Alfredo Figaro didn't leave a lot of room for improvement in his Double-A debut on April 10. He still managed to outdo himself Thursday.

In his first start of the season, the hard-throwing right-hander scattered five hits and a walk with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 scoreless innings against Altoona.

On Thursday, Figaro (1-0) again dominated the Curve, breezing through seven no-hit innings and racking up five strikeouts while walking three in the SeaWolves' 3-0 blanking of Altoona at Blair County Ballpark.

Zach Simons followed with a perfect eighth inning, but Brett Jensen gave up a double to Jamie Romak with two outs in the ninth before wrapping up the combined one-hitter.

Figaro rang up his first batter, Brian Friday, on a called third strike and cruised from there, retiring 10 straight between the first and the fifth frames. But he didn't appear to be feeling any added pressure as he got deeper into the game.

"I just worry about pitching a good game," he said. "No hits, one hit. Just pitching a good game is what's important."

Figaro's day ended in the seventh after 90 pitches. The 24-year-old was aware the team had him on a 95-pitch limit, but wasn't exactly counting on the mound.

Hens Drop Third Straight, Lose To Indy 10-2
Pitching struggled for the second straight night and the offense could manage just two runs as the Mud Hens fell to the Indianapolis Indians 10-2.

RHP Ron Chiavacci (0-2) started for Toledo, but the Indians offense struck early and often, scoring six earned runs on 11 hits in 3.1 innings. It marked the first time this season Chiavacci failed to go at least five innings.

The Tribe scored once in the first, three times in the second and twice in the fourth. 1B Luis Cruz’s two-run home run in the fourth gave the Indians a 6-0 lead.

SS Brent Dlugach hit two solo HR for the Hens, generating the only offense for Toledo. In the third and sixth innings, Dlugach blasted bombs to deep left field, one of which made it to Monroe Street.

Indianapolis would add another run in the sixth and three more in the eighth for the final count of 10-2.

RHP Nick Regilio allowed one unearned run in 2.2 innings of relief, and RHP Joel Zumaya pitched another scoreless inning as part of a rehab appearance. Zumaya allowed one hit and struck out two. RHP Freddy Dolsi pitched 1.2 innings of hitless relief.

Daniel McCutchen (1-1) started for Indianapolis and allowed one earned run in five innings.

The loss is the third straight for the Mud Hens, who drop to 8-5. They still remain in first place in the I.L. West, one game up on Louisville.

Game Notes:

Ouch: The combined 23 runs given up Tuesday and Wednesday to Indianapolis ties for the most allowed in any back-to-back games dating back to the 2006 season. The Hens also allowed 23 runs to Louisville August 26 and 27, 2006.

Bright Spots: 1B Don Kelly reached base safely four times, and DH Ryan Roberson extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double in the eighth inning.

Up Next: The Hens continue their first extended homestand of the season as they take on the Louisville Bats on Thursday, the start of a four-game set. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. between LOU RHP Ramon Ramirez (0-1, 6.30) at TOL LHP Lucas French (1-0, 0.82). Tickets are available for the first place Mud Hens. You can also listen to the game live with play-by-play announcer Jim Weber on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.
