Apparently, he did not feel good enough. Shortly after Willis spoke, the team announced that he had been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a hyperextended right knee. He sustained the injury in the first inning of Friday's start.
An MRI exam on Saturday did not reveal any tears. Still, a determined pitcher who had never before missed a start in the majors will be out for at least two weeks.
"We know he's going to miss at least a start, and we don't want to take any chances," club president/general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "Hopefully, in 15 days, he'll be ready."
