Into the Tigers Club at Comerica Park, and into Detroit baseball history, Miguel Cabrera stepped Saturday, making his official debut as Detroit's newest sports superstar.
"He looks great," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said of his new third baseman, acquired along with pitcher Dontrelle Willis in last month's monster trade with Florida. "And he'll look even better in the batter's box."
Cabrera is 24 years old and looks all of 20. He has an exceedingly youthful, even cherubic, face that was enhanced Saturday by dark curls and by diamonds glittering in a left earring.
