Tonight, the Tigers pay the price for losing Game 1 of the World Series to Anthony Reyes. They must face Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter in his own ballpark, where he had a 1.81 ERA this season -- the best home ERA of any starter in the major leagues.

The Tigers had 17 straight hitters go down in losing Game 1. You'd assume that it was the other team's ace who inflicted such humility, and that at least the Tigers won't have to face him again for a while. But the pitcher who retired those 17 straight Tigers was Reyes, who entered that game as the Cardinals' struggling No. 4 starter.
