Jim Leyland's club entered Fenway Park with a five-game losing streak, and departed having won two of three against the Red Sox - and making the Sox sweat through a Game 3 victory to prevent a Detroit sweep at home. Detroit's pitching stood out, as did their toughness, for which Leyland deserves credit.
"Nothing surprises me about our team," Leyland said, after the Tigers beat the Red Sox for a second straight night. "I know we're going to give 'em what we've got. On October 1st, we'll find out if we've got enough wins. I'm not going to worry about it.
