Songs put a big faith in tigers.
Quote:
When some of Brian Sprung's White Sox-rooting friends razzed him recently for being a Tigers fan, he didn't retaliate with angry words. He did it in song.
Sprung, a 35-year-old native of Berrien Springs, Mich., created a 3 1/2 -minute tune called "Tigers Gonna Do It Again" this week to honor the surprising rise of his favorite major league team.
The rock/rap stadium-style anthem has received some attention online and at radio stations around Metro Detroit, said Sprung, who lives in Chicago.
"It's something I tried to do that I hope everyone will like," Sprung said. "I just hope it will help everyone get enthused by the Tigers. It's such an exciting time right now."
What are the Tigers "gonna do again"? Win a World Series, claims Sprung, who did all the vocals, instrumentals, producing, mixing and mastering for the song.
Despite growing up in southwest Michigan, Sprung spent a good portion of his childhood in Detroit.
Sprung's late grandmother, Mary Ellen Sprung, was born in Detroit, as was his father, Paul Sprung.
In fact, Sprung said, Mary Ellen delivered newspapers to the home of former Tigers second baseman and Hall of Famer Charlie Gehringer.
This bartender and blues musician could create another tune if the Tigers actually roar through the playoffs to a championship.
"I might have to," Sprung said.
