Richard may replace Contreras
Quote:
Left-hander Clayton Richard is the most likely candidate to replace Jose Contreras in the starting rotation for the White Sox, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Another poor outing by Contreras on Friday night against Texas prompted White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen to make a change.
"We are going to start somebody else against Cleveland," Guillen said of Contreras' next spot in the rotation (Wednesday vs. the Indians). "Now it's our decision to find out who is going to be the best guy for that game."
Contreras, who returned earlier than expected after rupturing his left Achilles tendon last August, allowed five runs (three earned) and six hits in 3 2/3 innings, putting his ERA at 8.19.
