White Sox general manager Kenny Williams is shopping for a leadoff hitter, but has no interest in Juan Pierre or Gary Matthews Jr, the Daily Herald reported.
Dewayne Wise was dropped to the No. 8 spot in the White Sox' batting order Thursday after going 0-for-8 with strikeouts in the first two games of the season.
Rookie 2B Chris Getz replaced Wise in the leadoff spot vs. the Royals, and A.J. Pierzynski is back in the No. 2 hole.
"The easiest thing in the world is to say you have to go out and get a leadoff hitter, get the prototypical guy who can hit you .300 and get on base at .370, steal 50 bases," Williams told the newspaper's website. "But when people are pressed to say where are you going to get that guy, it's: 'Don't worry about it; you just go get him.'
