One of the intangibles Lou Piniella has tried to develop since coming to Chicago is confidence, which he has dubbed "Cubby swagger." When your best clutch hitter is out for at least one month, the cleanup hitter is struggling and the team is finding it tough to score runs, it's hard to smile, let alone swagger.
The list of Piniella's problems keeps growing. Aramis Ramirez is sidelined until late June because of a dislocated left shoulder. Milton Bradley, who signed a three-year, $30 million contract this offseason, is batting .198. Geovany Soto, the 2008 National League Rookie of the Year, is hitting .214.
