Default Alfonso being Alfonso

Last we saw of Alfonso Soriano, he was swinging as hard as he could on every pitch in the playoffs when a simple, selfless ground ball to the right side would have advanced the runner. He was striking out, misplaying fly balls and failing to understand that if a ball flies over his head and hits the wall, then it's going to bounce back.

He was introduced Friday during the Cubs Convention, and the reaction from the fans was warm and fuzzy, as it always is for their lovable Cubbies. I know that's what the weekend is all about, but do the Cubs need any more warm and fuzzy?

''I'm doing my job for seven years,'' he said. ''I do a very good job. I don't have to change anything. Not ever has my manager or my teammates said [anything] about change in my game.''

You still have a problem, Cubs fans. A major Soriano problem. There are serious questions for him, about him and whether he can adjust and be a team player. On top of that, is he willing to give up his beloved leadoff spot in the batting order if the Cubs trade for the Baltimore Orioles' Brian Roberts?

We are paying him 136 million to hit 2B and Hr, not to just move the runner over
