MILWAUKEE -- Mark Prior grew testy Thursday when asked if he has considered resting his right shoulder for the remainder of the season, but the Cubs pitcher couldn't say if he will be healthy in five days, when his spot comes up again in the rotation.

It hasn't been a fun season for Prior (1-6), who struggled through his shortest start in exactly two years as the Milwaukee Brewers capitalized on myriad Cubs mistakes in an 8-6 victory.

Prior gave up five earned runs in three innings; the last time he lasted only three innings was Aug. 10, 2004, against the San Diego Padres.

''It's been a long year,'' Prior said. ''Things haven't been as great as I would have liked. I have some ideas [as to what's wrong], but I'm going to keep those private.

i totally disagree with that...yeah he is 1-6 this season with a 7.21 era...i know not good at all...it is just an off season...last year he was 11-7 with a era of 3.67 which isnt bad at all...also he had a desent season in 2004 as well.

I am not basing on his career stats. Do you know how many times this guys has been injured. He was porducing when he was healthy, the guys body is too banged up especially for a picther.

yeah i do...i just think that after this season he will be able to make a good bounce back season next year...i really dont think his career is over though...

im going to disagree...do you know how many times prior has been injured? his career might not be over but he will never be the same IMO...

exactly...thats what i have been trying to say...his career isnt over but he wont ever be as good as he was in 04 and 05 but he will still be a desent pitcher.

first off, decent isnt spelled desent...and no he will never be a decent pitcher b/c he will keep getting hurt and never will be able to get 100% healthy....
