MILWAUKEE — In recent days, the Cubs have started young players such as Matt Murton, Angel Pagan and Ryan Theriot. That’s to say nothing of their youthful pitching rotation, which features 26-year-old Rich Hill as the oldest starter.
That doesn’t mean the Cubs are “going young” or embarking on a youth movement, according to manager Dusty Baker.
“I can’t see a prolonged youth movement,” Baker said. “You got to have a number of youth ready up and down your system to be prolonged. I know something about our system. I can’t really answer that. I don’t know everything about our system.
