By showing his cards in what has become a public disagreement, Florida owner Jeffrey Loria likely has driven down the price for any team coveting Girardi as its next manager.

While Girardi has been universally praised for making a run at the wild card with a tiny payroll and extremely young club — some even calling him the N.L. Manager of the Year — there has been talk the last month of meddling by Florida’s front office and ownership.
