Varitek, he is a free-agent after this year. Catchers are hard to come by, and he is arguably still one of the top 5 catchers in the league. Not to mention the way that he handles the pitching staff.

Manny doesn't need a deal after this year. If the red-sox want to keep him, they have him for the next two years because of the club options. This is completely up to the Red-Sox and not Manny. In varitek's case, it is going to be a negotiation between the two parties.
