At least the voters got this one right; Pedroia is definately the right choice. Not only did he hit .317 but he could also have been mentioned for a Gold Glove if not for Placido Palanco's completely flawless D. Pedroia is the most solid second baseman the Red Sox have had in recent years; probably since Todd Walker or even Jeff Frye.
He is not a typical rookie, as he displayed tremendous plate discipline, that of a veteran; he struck out every 14.2 at bats, good for second in the AL.
Overall, I believe this is a start of an era that the Sox have never had; that of having a great second baseman for a long period of time.
