Little man toughs it out

In 2004, it was Curt Schilling’s ankle. This World Series run it was Dustin Pedroia's broken hand. The only difference was nobady knew about Pedroia's hand while he was driving in 10 RBIs in 14 postseason games.
Pedroia admitted on November 9th that he played the final two months of the season with a cracked hamate bone in his left hand, The Boston Herald reported on Saturday.
The hamate, a wedge-shaped bone found near the far side of the wrist of each hand, is quite common. Red Sox players David Ortiz, Eric Hinske, and former Boston player Wily Mo Pena have all had one in there career.
The Red Sox second baseman doesn’t know when he suffered the injury, but it was discovered during an MRI and bone scan on Sept. 10. He didn’t undergo surgery until Tuesday. He is wearing a soft cast and is restricted from using the hand until late November or early December.
