The guy wins six games and they are calling him the next Clemmens.... The guy has never won over 16 games in a season.

Almost as ridiculous as the media calling Phillip Huhges the next Clemmens.

No, he is not. But he is a lot more established than Hughes so i can see more precedent for it.

I can also see some similarities between them. They are both mean, nasty type guys with hard fastballs and they're both from the south. They have different strikeout pitches though, Clemens seems to rely largely on his splitter where Beckett uses a big curveball.

lol this is ridiculous...Just beacause young stars are having great years, doesnt mean people should go off and say "he's the new Rocket"...

In all fairness he had had more than 1 great year, he had some good ones with FLA too. Im not saying i agree with the comparison but i can see it.

That was Giambi who said that Hughes reminds him of a "Young Rocket".

Anyways, Beckett had a 5.oo ERA last year, he's no Clemens. He will come back down to earth soon enough.

He had alot of help with Carl Pavano pitching aswell. Carl was instrumental in their WS win and he doesnt get his credit.
