As was the case last season, the Los Angeles Angels find themselves ranked near the bottom of all American League teams in runs scored this year. As a result, expect the Angels to renew trade discussions for a proven hitter over the winter, anyone from Baltimore Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada to Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez.
Among those whom the Angels might be offering in return:
Pitcher Ervin Santana.
Ranked second in the AL in pitching this season, the Angels boast one of the deepest starting rotations in baseball with Santana, John Lackey, Jered Weaver, Kelvim Escobar and Joe Saunders, not to mention the injured Bartolo Colon. All of that has made a rather sizable bargaining chip of Santana, the 23-year-old Dominican who is 26-15 with a 4.57 ERA in 53 starts during his career.
