There were heartfelt hugs all around by Red Sox and White Sox players for David Ortiz on the field before last night’s game as the slugger took batting practice for the first time since missing several games while being tested for an irregular heartbeat.
A return to the lineup is expected for the second game of the series tonight, when Ortiz surely will generate a massive group hug from the Fenway Park faithful.
“I think everyone was missing me out there,” said Ortiz after his normal-looking batting practice session that featured a handful of Ortiz bombs over the walls in left, center and right fields. “Everything went good.”
