While there were no David Ortiz sightings at Fenway Park yesterday, there was uplifting news surrounding the Red Sox slugger, who was released from Massachusetts General Hospital after undergoing a battery of tests for an irregular heartbeat.
Although the club remained tight-lipped about his hospitalization and possible return to the lineup, Ortiz told radio station Z-101 in his native Dominican Republic that his heart was in good shape, and he planned to be back in his familiar DH spot tomorrow against the Blue Jays.
“My health is fine,” Ortiz told the station. “The doctors have told me to rest (yesterday) and practice (today) so I can be ready to return to the playing field (tomorrow).”
