Quite A Day!
Saturday, October 1, 1932 Wrigley Field Chicago: New York Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Democratic nominee for the presidency, chats with Cubs manager Jolly Cholly Grimm and Yankees manager Marse Joe McCarthy just prior to game three of the 1932 World Series. Gov. Roosevelt would throw out the first pitch of the game and watch the Yankees beat the Cubs 7-5. It was in this game that Babe Ruth is said to have pointed to the stands and then belted a home run.
