Default Orioles re-schedule FanFest

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles have rescheduled their FanFest, which was postponed because of a conflict with the NFL playoffs, to April 1, which coincides with the team's last workout before Opening Day. The practice and FanFest will both take place at Camden Yards, whetting appetites for the home opener on April 9.
The Orioles also plan to hold other fan-friendly events in the next few months, but the organization held off on an announcement of those plans. For now, the only clear part is the itinerary for FanFest.

"Combining FanFest with a team workout gives Orioles fans the opportunity to welcome the 2007 squad home," Orioles director of communications Greg Bader said in a press release. "Fans will experience the same personal interaction with players that makes FanFest so popular, and also have the added bonus of seeing them work out on the field.

"This is the perfect way to send the team off to Minnesota to start the season."

Tickets for the originally scheduled event will be accepted, but additional tickets will go on sale Feb. 1 on The Official Site of The Baltimore Orioles: Homepage. Season Plan holders will be allowed into the stadium at 10:30 a.m. ET for a "State of the Orioles" address. Camden Yards will open an hour later for general admission, and the workout will run until 1 p.m.

Fans will be allowed to sit in box seats down close to the action, and some of the team's broadcasters will conduct interviews from the field with players and coaches. Those interviews will be audible throughout the stadium. When the workout is done, the assorted players will interact with fans and sign autographs for the next few hours.

Much like the regularly scheduled FanFest -- which normally happens at the Baltimore Convention Center -- there will be a host of games and interactive events for younger fans. This year, they'll take place on the main concourse and on the Club Level. Concessions will also be available throughout the day.

The Orioles will also host question-and-answer sessions with front-office executives and media members. The mascot with pose for photos, as usual, and the team will also hold a sale for memorabilia and collectibles.
