Prospects make way in Winter League
As the Venezuelan Winter League playoffs wind down, the Tigres de Aragua find themselves fighting for the championship against the Navegantes del Magallanes, thanks in part to former Major League right-hander Rosman Garcia.
The 28-year-old reliever appeared in four games during the round-robin phase of the playoffs, going 0-1 with a 1.42 ERA over 6 1/3 innings. Garcia has yet to appear in the best-of-seven championship series, which the Tigres lead, 2-0.
While Garcia looks to add a VWL championship to his achievements, here's how the rest of the Orioles prospects are doing in the Winter Leagues:
Dominican Winter League
RHP Francis Beltran -- Beltran did not pitch this week for the Tigres del Licey in the DWL championship series.
OF Napoleon Calzado -- Calzado opened the championship series by going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, but he went 0-for-2 in Game 2. He did not play in Game 3, and he is hitting .286 with three RBIs and three runs scored in nine playoff games.
