Should Braves Ban Beer in Clubhouse?
In the wake of Cards pitcher Josh Hancock's death,MLB clubs are looking at their policies regarding beer and wine in the clubhouse.
The Cardinals, like the A's, Yankees, Mets, Twins and Pirates before them, are bringing back prohibition. Ban beer in the clubhouse and the players won't drive drunk is the thinking.
As Braves fans might have noticed in 14-years of celebrations they have no such policy.
But should they?
If it's too dangerous to provide a couple of beers to 25 guys in a clubhouse — all of whom can afford cab fare or limo fare and some of whom can afford to charter the Concorde — then what of the tens of thousands of over-served fans that the park just disgorged out into the parking lot?
They stop selling buy the 7th inning at the Ted but you can be lit by then. So how far should they go with these bans???
