Question Braves Sign Manager Thru 2008

Is any one out there wondering if Braves skipper Bobby Cox is going to retire anytime soon?
The answer is no.
He was resigned for a one year deal that keeps the longtime manager in spikes for at least next season.
Thats right thats not a typo, Bobby Cox still wears spikes.
As far as reaction goes:
"I'm delighted," Braves general manager John Schuerholz said. "He's the best manager in baseball. It goes without saying that he's been the key and constant ingredient in the run of success that we've had."
"It's not a big deal, because this is something we've talked about for a while," Cox said. "But it's a big deal to come back. As long as the players can put up with me and the organization still wants me."
Cox is fifth on the all-time list as far as wins goes 2180
and of course one world series title.
As far as Cox partner in crime GM John Schuerholtz contract goes "I'm signed for long enough," Schuerholz said. "It really is about Bobby today."
So was this a good move for the Braves?
Or do they need a new voice to guide the club?

Maybe they need a new guy in there.
A younger guy, someone who has a new vision.
The team has been on a slow decline for a couple of years now.
and I think it might take a younger coach,
to get the team back on the right track.
I have noticed over the last few years that
when a team changes coaches it takes the team to a whole
new level, like Jack McKeon in Florida,Or Ozzy Guillen in Chicago,
Jim Leyland in Detriot.

I can't imagine Bobby Cox not being the Braves manager, he has been there so long and so successful that he can retire or return at will. Now you do have a point that the Braves have not been playing as well as they did in the '90s but thats the product of the player market and not the fault of the manager.
If anything he gets the most out of his players.

I love Bobby Cox he is the face of the Braves. Like Boozer stated it would be weird to have someone other than Cox managing the Braves.
