Jones To Wear #42 For Robinson Day
Major League Baseball is celebrating the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking into the big leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
On April 15th,which is know as Jackie Robinson Day. And is the first day an African-American had ever played in Major League Baseball,Andruw Jones Will wear #42.
Ten Years ago Baseball retired Robinson's #42 from every team,so that no player or coach would be able to wear it.
Until this year When Ken Griffey Jr. Asked Commissioner Bud Selig if for one day he could Honor Robinson by wearing his #42.
In a wise and touching move the Commissioner agreed."Jackie continues to be an inspiration to all of our players, and his impact will be felt for as long as our game is played," Selig said. "I thank Ken for finding another special way to mark Jackie Robinson Day." Others include several other Big Leaguers like Barry Bonds,Griffey,Andruw Jones and many other players.
"It's just an honor for me," Jones said. "I'm happy to be the one that represents my team by wearing it."
