On a night when John Thompson pitched his heart out, like Smoltz the night before, the Braves lackluster offense could not come through with even one run. The Braves lineup looked like a script from the dead ball era, with three batters hitting below .200 by nights end. Joining Giles (.192), Francoeur (.185), and Pratt (.176) are Diaz (.207) and LaRoche (.211) as eventual members of the dubious "patrol."
